La Cathédrale Saint-Cyr Sainte Julitte has been built from the 11th to the 16th century. Its architecture is unique in its kind since the cathedral possesses two choirs; a Romanesque and a Gothic. The stained windows have been realised by different contemporary artists. The original windows were destructed during the last war. L’espace Bernadette Soubirous Nevers welcomes thousands of pilgrims and visitors from all over the world every year. The body of Saint Bernadette, from Lourdes, is still intact and lies in state in the chapel since 1925. In the medieval part of the town, you can visit the manufacturers of the Faïence de Nevers. Since the 17th century Nevers has been known as the French Capital of Pottery. You can watch how the pottery is made.
On the banks of the Loire, one of the last non canalized rivers of Europe, you can observe the beautiful natural and wild landscapes. Your discovery tour can take place by different means; during a canoe or boat trip or simply by foot or bicycle, following the banks of the Loire. You shouldn't miss out on the Panorama du Bec d'Allier where the Loire and Allier Rivers join each other. The path is accessible to persons with reduced mobility. Along the Canal latéral à la Loire (Channel at the side of the Loire) you will find la Voie Verte (the green path) which offers a beautiful walk or bicycle trip of 14 km in harmony with nature. From the campsite, you can reach the Voie Verte in a couple of minutes. At the Domaine de la Beue in Varennes Vauzelles you find heath and reed lands in a natural environment. Two tracks, also accessible to persons with reduced mobility, have been laid out. Nearby is an area to relax and enjoy leisure activities; le Plan d'eau de Niffonds.
